As Director of Advancement and Communications, Lucian is responsible for leading Durham University’s advancement activities, bringing together marketing, communications and development to support the enhancement of the University’s global reputation and influence. Glen Whitehead, Director of Development and Alumni Engagement

Glen WhiteheadGlen leads on activity across the Development and Alumni Relations Office. He is responsible for overall strategic oversight and delivery of all fundraising, global alumni engagement, volunteering and communications, and advancement operations for the University. He will lead our continued drive to engage global alumni audiences and secure philanthropic commitment in support of the University’s strategic aims. His focus will be to establish a comprehensive campaign linked to Durham’s bicentenary in 2032.

Katie Harland-Edminson, Director of Philanthropy and Campaign Operations, Development and Alumni Relations

Katie Harland-Edminson
As a member of the Senior Management Team, Katie leads on philanthropic and operational activity undertaken by the Development and Alumni Relations Office, covering major and principal gifts from individuals and organisations alongside donor relations. She also works directly with alumni and philanthropic partners to secure support for the University’s strategic priorities.

Tristan Alltimes, Deputy Director, Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving

Tristan Alltimes
Tristan is responsible for the Alumni Engagement and Regular Giving team.
Responsibilities include having strategic and operational oversight of alumni and supporter: events; communications; volunteering and giving, targeting a global community of over 200,000 members worldwide.

The Alumni and Supporter Engagement Team works closely with the University’s Colleges, Faculties, Departments, Institutes and beyond to coordinate effective member engagement strategies and plans.

Stuart Thompson, Deputy Director, Advancement Services

Stuart Thompson
Stuart leads the Advancement Services team at Durham University. His portfolio comprises data and information management, data governance and compliance, alumni and stakeholder systems, reporting and analytics, training and user support, prospect research, gift processing, and stewardship.

Stuart has developed many new systems and processes, to improve and expand the Development and Alumni Relations functions at Durham including the development of an Alumni Engagement Pyramid.
