Update to bookable study spaces at Bill Bryson Library

From Monday 18 September, there will some changes to locations of bookable study spaces in Bill Bryson Library.

Durham Research Online: the next step

After a few weeks pause, Durham University’s Open Access publications repository, Durham Research Online (DRO) has been relaunched, providing unpaywalled access to publications authored by staff and students at Durham University.

Bill Bryson Library closure – Sunday 30 July 2023

Bill Bryson Library will close at 10pm on Saturday 29 July and reopen at 8am on Monday 31 July due to works carried out by Northumbrian Water affecting the water supply to the building. No access to the Library will be available during this period.

We have recently introduced a monthly activity and news page on our Open Research guide, allowing you to keep up to date with all the latest on access to University research and from the wider world of Open Access.

On 8 June 2023 we introduced special handling measures for one of our collections having discovered trace of the insecticide DDT on a record sample.

Closure of Leazes Road Study Space

As the School of Education is relocating to the Confluence Building on Lower Mountjoy, Leazes Road Study Space will permanently close at 6pm on Friday 2 June 2023.

Donate your unwanted academic textbooks to the Library

As we approach the end of the academic year, we will be providing a donation station in Bill Bryson Library and ISC Library, Stockton so you can donate any academic textbooks you no longer need for your studies.

Introducing your library account summary emails

Now that we have automatic renewals in place, we will be sending out a monthly summary email detailing any loans or charges you have on your library account. This is to help you to keep track of your borrowed items and any outstanding fees you may have.
