Our Industrial Engagement
We have a strong history of collaborating with industrial partners and applying our interdisciplinary approach to the biological problems they face. We host a range of activities to foster links with industrial partners from one-to-one meetings to challenge-based workshops.
How we Foster Links with Industrial Partners
Our community has a strong history of collaborating with industrial partners and applying innovative approaches to real-world biological problems. In 2012 the P&G Global Business Development Vice President praised the BSI model in a talk in the US Senate to the National Governors Association “Creating an Entrepreneurial Culture”: https://www.cspan.org/video/?304528-3/creating-entrepreneurial-culturE (at 41 minutes).
We host a range of activities to build links with industrial partners and we are happy to make the arrangements for Non-Disclosure Agreements and Memorandum of Understandings to be prepared. Please get in touch if you would like to explore working with us.
One-to-one meetings
Senior Institute leaders meet with industrial counterparts to jointly identify areas of common interest, and areas for possible collaboration.
Research Discussion meetings
We can arrange informal round table, or formal symposium style events to bring together academics from across Durham and industrial settings to share research interests and, where appropriate, future directions in specific areas.
Problem-based workshops
We also offer problem-based workshops in areas of our research strength. These meetings typically comprise flash-presentations to introduce both of the teams brought together, an outline of the problem or challenge from the industrial partner and a round table discussion resulting in an action plan.
