PhD Funding

IMH will consider supervising PhD students in medical humanities and supporting very strong candidates through the application process for the following PhD funding schemes 

All of these opportunities are highly competitive and candidates will need to be accepted by a host department at Durham University before completing their application. Therefore, University deadlines may be some time before the funding agencies advertised deadlines. You are advised to discuss potential project ideas with a suitable prospective supervisor at an early stage.

Postdoctoral Fellowships

IMH will consider supporting very strong candidates through the application process for Wellcome postdoctoral funding schemes. To find current opportunities, please visit Wellcome: Find a funding opportunity and use the filter on the left hand side to find schemes that might be relevant to you.  

We may also consider supporting very strong candidates through the application process for Leverhulme Trust Early Career Fellowships 

Although these are the main funding schemes for independent reseach in Medical Humanities, there are also many more small funds and schemes you may wish to consider. 

All funding schemes are highly competitive and there may be University restrictions which limit the numbers of applications supported. Therefore, University deadlines may be some time before the funding agencies advertised deadlines. You are advised to contact us to discuss research ideas well in advance of the deadline.
