What to expect on the day of your arrival in to Newcastle Airport
If you are arriving on a domestic flight:
You
will not
need to pass through the immigration checks at Newcastle Airport, as you will have done this already upon your arrival in to the UK.
Please remember to
collect your checked-in luggage
from the baggage reclaim carousel before you leave the exit. Once you pass the exit doors, you will not be able to return into this area and so it is very important not to leave your suitcases behind! It is strongly advised to attach a
yellow ribbon
to your suitcase, so that it can be easily identified as belonging to a student of Durham University. Please do not bring more luggage than you need, a maximum of two cases is advised.
Upon leaving the domestic arrivals area, you will need to proceed to the Durham University welcome desk. When you come out of the domestic arrivals exit, please head to your
right hand side
and look for the
international
arrivals
. You will walk past WHSmiths, Starbucks and will see the Durham University welcome desk set up close to the Arrow Cars taxi desk.
Look out for staff in Durham University
purple or black T-shirts/hoodies
and a desk with a purple table cloth and the Durham University logo.
Our colleague will check your booking at the desk and guide you to your onward transport to your accommodation in Durham. Please make sure that you give your name to the Durham University staff member at the desk, to ensure that you are guided to the right place for your onward travel.
Please note that you will need to use the airport trolleys to move your luggage from the airport terminal to your onward travel. Your luggage is your responsibility and it is advised not to bring too much - please remember that you will be able to purchase most of the items that you will need in Durham.
